Tim O’Toole has spent a lifetime helping people find their way—first through military service, then across California’s roadways as a Highway Patrol officer and sergeant, and now through the stories, pathways, and human connections gathered beneath Surf‑Connection.
Friends know him as Turner. Roadside stories often arrive in the voice of ChippyTim. Behind both is a husband, father, brother, veteran, public servant, photographer, storyteller, and builder who believes experience means more when it is shared.

Good morning. Thank you for calling HB Surf Photos for today’s updated surf and weather report, recorded on the 20th of June at 06:30 hours atop the Huntington Cliffs.
Today, under overcast skies, air temperature is 63. Water temperature has pumped up a little bit—we’re at 68 degrees. Surf has a little bit different angle on it. We’re going to call it west-southwest at 3 to 4 feet. Surf conditions are definitely fun.
Not much of a tide swing. We’re coming off a high tide at 5:30, around a 3-foot tide, going down to a low of 1.3 at 11:05. It should be a fun day out there, right before the weekend starts and everybody pours out of their surf vans.
So, if you’re not doing anything, hop on down to Huntington Beach. Today is Friday—the beginning of the weekend. Be safe. There’s going to be a DUI checkpoint in Huntington Beach this evening, so you can go to Living in HB for all the details on that.
